The Bureau of Materials is part of the Ministry of Landscape.
The Bureau of Materials manages land-based natural resource extraction and certifies natural products traded or moved across Vekllei. It covers the extraction of minerals, stone, timber and other terrestrial resources from Commonwealth lands, and establishes the frameworks under which republics and municipal industries may access and exploit those resources. Offshore resources fall primarily to the Bureau of Oceans.
The bureau also administers the biosecurity certification of natural materials moving between republics and into Vekllei from overseas. This function is closely coordinated with the Bureau of Agriculture for plant and animal products, and with the LSRE for geological and mineralogical surveys that inform resource planning. The bureau does not typically manage the industrial extraction itself – that is the province of Ministry of Industry operators – but licences, monitors and enforces sustainable extraction standards.
