The Republic of Burmaland is a settler state in Southeast Asia, governed by a white minority concentrated in Rangoon and the highland estates. The republic has no formal relationship with Britain, though the settler community maintains the British Crown as a cultural symbol and regards itself as the legitimate heir to the British imperial presence in the region. Burmaland distinguishes itself from the white settler states of southern Africa on grounds of historical lineage rather than political principle, and the practical distinction between the regimes is negligible.

The government conducts continuous military operations against Karen, Shan, Kachin and other ethnic insurgencies in the interior. Burmaland’s primary trading relationships are with Rhodesia, South Africa and Portugal-Mozambique. It has no significant diplomatic relationships with the international community and is treated as a pariah state by most countries.
