The Ministry of the Commons is a ministry of the Vekllei Government.
The Ministry of the Commons (COSMOTRAN) is responsible for housing, public works, transport infrastructure and green spaces in Vekllei. Its portfolio spans the physical fabric of Vekllei communities – from how people are housed to how they travel between islands. Common responsibilities include:
- Construction, provision and maintenance of public housing
- Design, upkeep and expansion of urban green spaces, parks and public gardens
- Construction and maintenance of road, rail and port infrastructure
- Regulation and operation of aerospace, maritime and space transport
- Large-scale public works and federal construction projects
- Administration of off-world settlements in coordination with the Parliament of Milk and Honey
The ministry works closely with municipalities and Republic Assemblies to deliver infrastructure at the local level. Most new housing and major public works are designed by the civil service and built through the National Construction House, but planning is consultative with local government. The ministry does not cover conservation, agriculture or natural resources, which fall to the Ministry of Landscape.
The Ministry of the Commons is led by the First Minister of the Commons, who reports to the Cabinet.
