The Commonwealth is a diverse society shaped by Atlantic history – slavery, colonial migration and postwar immigration. 46% of people in Vekllei were born overseas, with significant variation across its regions. Its largest ethnic group, the Oslolan people of the northern Atlantic, share the country with Afro-Caribbean communities, Berber-descended Canarii peoples, French Caribbean Creoles and Portuguese islanders. The Kalina region alone accounts for nearly 40% of the total population.
